– SADA FOOTBALL CUP – ANAMBRA STATE (Q1 2026)
– GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT – DRUG-FREE, HIV/AIDS & ANTI-CRIME
PLEDGE (Q2 2026)
The Young Entrepreneurs Summit Africa (YESA), continues to champion youth empowerment
and behavioral change through sports, mentorship, and community sensitization.
Building on the success of the SADA Football Cup 2025 (FCT Edition), which directly engaged
over 3,000 youths and reached over 3 million Nigerians online, YESA proposes two major
national-impact interventions for the first half of 2026:
1. SADA Cup Anambra State – A youth football tournament and sensitization campaign aimed at
drug abuse prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness, and youth reorientation through sports and
entertainment.
2 Guinness World Record (GWR) Attempt – Most People Taking a Drug-Free, HIV/AIDS & Anti-
Crime Pledge Simultaneously”, an unprecedented nationwide mobilization event to unite over
5,000 participants in a collective stand against drugs, HIV, and crime.
Both programs are designed to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3, 4, 8,
16 & 17) and national youth policy objectives on health, security, and empowerment.
• 14.4 million Nigerians (14.4% of population aged 15-64) use psychoactive substances – one of the highest rates in Africa.
• 1 in 5 drug users is a woman, and 1 in 4 is a youth aged 15-29.
• Anambra State records a steady rise in substance use and urban drug peddling,
especially in Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi (NDLEA South-East Command, 2024).
• HIV prevalence in Anambra stands at 2.4%, higher than the national average of 1.3%
(NACA, 2023).
Youth crime rate (cybercrime, cultism, petty theft) increased by 22% between 2020-2024
(Nigeria Police data).
Survey by YESA (2024) in Anambra schools and communities revealed:
• 61% of youth respondents have seen drug use among peers.
• 46% lack accurate information on HIV prevention.
• 39% admit influence of peer pressure and unemployment on risky behavior.
These statistics underscore the urgent need for community-based behavioral interventions
combining sports, education, mentorship, and positive youth engagement.
